Yesterday, the gallery hosted the exhibit and auction, United by Love for Life 2 Laredos, benefitting the organization, Manos de Maria. The event featured artists from the sister cities who donated their pieces for sale to the appreciative audience.

Tonight: Shira De LLano's "Art in Health"

Presented by the Border Region Behavioral Health Center the artwork was created by participants in Shira De Llano Art in Health Program.

Under the direction of Paty Orduna, the Shira de Llano Art in Health Program has been utilizing art as a therapeautic tool for healing for 9 years. The students produced an array of artwork that provides alternatives for self-expression and creativity far beyond their own expectations. In the process, individuals increase their self-esteem, improve their quality of life and take great pride in their creations.

Proceeds from the sale of the art go to the artists as well as the continuation of the Shira De Llano Art in Health Program.

Exhibit: La Frida Birthday Celebration

Last week's La Frida Birthday Celebration was a tremendous success!  Various artists throughout the community participated in the open call, and I was truly impressed with their creativity.  In addition to finger foods, the celebration featured sangria, jewelry, and Frida-inspired clothing and  crafts.  I would like to thank everyone for coming out to the exhibit and making it the largest opening we've ever had!  The pieces will remain on display throughout the month so that those who missed the opening will have a chance to see them.

Exhibit: A Balance of Whimsey and Glamour

Last night the exhibit A Balance of Whimsey and Glamour opened.  The exhibit featured paintings by Laredo's youth who ranged in ages from 4 years to 15.   Their instructors are Margarita (YuYu) Molano and Daniela Sada Paz Dominguez.

The exhibit will be on going through the month and for those who missed it yesterday, there is a chance to catch the work at today's poetry slam.

Exhibit: Eye of the Beholder

Last week the Eye of the Beholder exhibit featuring artists, Edgar Saldana and Christina Xu opened.  The opening was major success and featured musical performances by Nira Elias.  It was a great way to kick off the first exhibit of the new year and we were so happy to have such a big turnout for the event.  To see more how the night went, check out our gallery below.  Those who appear in the pictures are welcome to share them with their friends online.
